Lakes Entrance 6/12 to 9/12

We left New South Wales and drove into the state of Victoria. We passed many logging trucks on the way. An equivalent of 13 football pitches a day is felled for the logging industry in the area. We arrived at the resort of Lakes Entrance which is a typical seaside resort with fish and chips, mini golf and giant seagulls.

This is the church at Bairnsdale with hand painted ceilings and walls. It also provided with a reminder that Christmas was getting closer.

Whilst we were there Victoria was suffering from massive bush fires. An original 50 fires started from lighting strikes merged eventually into larger fires threatening local towns. We were about 150km away but could still see and smell the smoke. It was like driving on a foggy winter's morning at home. We left the area before the fires could pose any threat to us.
