Townsville 3/5 - 6/5

We were finally out of the outback and into Tropical North Queensland. We arrived in Townsville the largest city in the north of the state.

Townsville has a major military presence but you wouldn't know it as the city is very impressive with old buildings, a modern promenade called "the Strand" and lots of tourist activities. Here is the view of the city and Castle Hill from the harbour.

Jayne in the bandstand in one of the parklands next to the Strand.

A 'fig tree'. There were lots of these around the area.

Another large spider spinning it's web on the side of the museum, thankfully this time it was not real.

The view from Castle Hill over Townsville and Magnetic Island.

Some of the modern art on the promenade opposite the caravan site, when viewed from the side they were fish.
