Townsville to Port Douglas 7/5

We drove a very scenic 420km from Townsville to Port Douglas. There were a few nice beaches on the way like this one at Cardwell. In the background is Hinchinbrook Island.

The journey continued through the sugar cane and the banana plantations, passing through Innisfail where a cyclone devestated the town and its industry in 2006.

Here is Jayne at Ellis Beach, one of Cairns' northern beaches.

This is the coastal stretch between Cairns and Port Douglas taken from Rex's lookout. This part of the drive is one of the most scenic drives in Australia but its no fun trying to negotiate the bends and narrow lanes with a caravan in tow.
