Cairns 8/5 & 14/5

We made a few trips to Cairns whilst staying in Port Douglas and Palm Cove. There are more cruise ships stopping here than ever before.

After a 'brunch' overlooking the waterfront we went for a stroll around the marina.

We were deciding which yacht to swap our caravan for. In the background is the Pier where there are some nice bars and restaurants.

Cairns does not have a natural city beach so to make up for this they have built a lagoon on the waterfront. It features a large swimming pool and a man made beach. It was certainly a lot busier than on our previous visits here.

The lagoon extends from the end of the main shopping street to the sea. You can see the sea in the background here.

Despire being a major tourism centre Cairns still has plenty of historic buildings.
